Story Takes First In Hammer At Battle Of The Blues

DURHAM, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field teams competed the first day of competition of the Battle of the Blues on Friday. The meet's first day of competition only has the men's and women's hammer events.
Avana Story got the women's team off to a great start with a first place finish in the hammer. Story threw 191-9 (58.44 meters) to take first and was 14 feet farther than anyone in the field. Alex Cooke and Sam Miller took third and fourth, respectively.
AJ Hicks took third in the men's hammer throwing 193-6 (58.98 meters).
The entirety of the competition that remains will conclude tomorrow. The meet is a tri-meet between North Carolina, Duke and Michigan. Scoring for individuals follows a 5-3-2-1 format while relays are scored as 5-3.
