No. 11 Tar Heels Host High Point, UNCA This Week

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 7 North Carolina returns to Boshamer Stadium for a five-game homestand starting Tuesday evening at 6 when the Tar Heels host Big South foe High Point. Carolina will then host UNC Asheville, also of the Big South, on Wednesday before welcoming Virginia Tech to town for a three-game series. UNC is 20-7 on the year following a three-game sweep at the hands of No. 2 Miami in Coral Gables. High Point is 20-8 after a series win over Maryland last weekend in College Park. Ashevile took two of three league games from Presbyterian to improve to 7-21.

NORTH CAROLINA-HIGH POINT SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 20-3-1 all-time against High Point and 13-1 under head coach Mike Fox.
• Carolina won the lone meeting in 2015, a 1-0 final that was shortened to six innings by torrential rain. Hunter Williams worked all six innings for his first career complete game shutout.
• The Tar Heels and Panthers met every year from 2001-13, restarting a series that had not been contested since 1981.
• High Point's lone win in recent years came in 2009, an 11-9 final. Carolina has won five straight since then.
NORTH CAROLINA-UNC ASHEVILLE SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 7-0 all-time against UNC Asheville in a series that began in 1996.
• Carolina beat Asheville 11-2 last season in Chapel Hill. Benton Moss allowed one run over five innings to get the win.
• Prior to last season, the Tar Heels and Bulldogs last met in 2012. Carolina scored wins in Asheville and Chapel Hill. The return game was played at McCormick Field, home of the Asheville Tourists, and stands as the only game in the series to occur outside of Chapel Hill.
