UNC Avoids Upset Bug At Riviera All-Americans

TULSA, Oklahoma - North Carolina All-America Hayley Carter's bid for a national championship came up short on Monday to long-time rival Danielle Collins of Virginia in the final match of the 2016 NCAA Singles Championship.

In the fourth head-to-head meeting of the season between the top-two ranked players in women's college tennis, No. 2 Collins got the best of top-ranked Carter by scores of 6-3, 6-2, to earn her second national title in the last three seasons.

Collins is now 4-2 all-time against Carter. The Tar Heel junior won the first meeting this season, while the other two matches that took place during the ACC Championship and the NCAA Team Championship went unfinished.

Carter finishes her season with a sterling 49-5 overall singles record.
