Lucas: Making A Connection

It's the first week of classes at Carolina, which means students are going through all the normal introductory activities. You know the type—drinking from the Old Well (if they're brave), having that first night out back on Franklin Street…and getting dunked on by Seventh Woods.
About that last one: you've by now probably seen the video of Woods dunking on a fellow student. First posted by Joel Berry II, the windmill slam was picked up by ESPN and across the internet late this week.

Berry chuckled when asked about the play (and no, it wasn't a 10-foot goal). “We were out having fun with some of our teammates, and a guy challenged Seventh to dunk on him,” he said. “We had just met that guy when we were out. I think he liked it more than anybody, because he ended up on ESPN.”
For Berry, the situation was more than just a talented freshman showing off. It was indicative of one of his favorite parts of being a Tar Heel.
“I liked it because it shows the basketball team isn't just a bunch of guys who walk around thinking they're the best and don't interact with other people,” he said. “It shows we have a connection with our school and aren't just a bunch of guys who people can't talk to on campus. We want people to talk to on campus, because we want to have a connection with students. We want them to be behind us when things are going well or going poorly.”
We'll have much more from Berry on GoHeels next week, including some pivotal advice he received from Raymond Felton over the summer.
