Tar Heels Fourth at Rod Myers Invitational

Sophomore Joshua Martin is 2-under-par through 35 holes and the University of North Carolina men's golf team is 2-under for the first two rounds at the Rod Myers Invitational played Saturday at the Duke University Golf Course.
Martin is one of two players who have to putt out on the 18th green to officially conclude the second round.
Martin is tied for seventh place in the individual standings with UNC senior Henry Do, who is playing as an individual. Martin shot a 71 in the first round and is also 1-under through 17 holes in the second. Do made five birdies en route to a 69 in the second round.
Wake Forest leads the team scoring at 18-under-par, shooting 10-under in the opening round and 8-under with one hole to play in the second.
Liberty is second at -6, Florida State is third at -4, Carolina is fourth at-2, and Kansas is fifth at +1.
The Tar Heels shot 1-under 287 in the first round and are on pace for the same result in the second.
Austin Hitt is tied for 14th at even-par 144. The UNC freshman from Longwood, Fla., shot 75 in his first college round, then shaved six shots off that score for a 69 in the second round.
William Register is tied for 19th at +1 (73-72), Ben Griffin is tied for 24th at +2 (71-75) and sophomore Preyer Fountain is tied for 33rd at +4 (72-76).
Jose Montaño, a transfer from Xavier playing in his first event with the Tar Heels, had a 70 in the first round, but followed with a 78 and is +6 overall.
The conclusion of the second round and the third and final round are scheduled for Sunday.
