Martin, UNC in Fourth With 18 Holes to Play

Sophomore Joshua Martin continued his strong play with a 1-under par 69 and the University of North Carolina men's golf team stands in fourth place after two rounds at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational Saturday. The Tar Heels shot 5-over-par 285, the second best round of the day.
Host school Illinois continues to lead the event as the only one of the 15 teams under par at 7-under. Second place is held by Texas A&M at 575, 21 shots behind the Illini. Third place is Oklahoma State at 577. The Tar Heels are at 579, two shots back of the Cowboys.
Martin birdied the ninth and 17th holes and had just one bogey on 16. He is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard at 1 under. UNC freshman Austin Hitt is 21st at 5 over after a second-round 71. William Register is 21st at plus five after an even-par 70.
The individual leaders are Dylan Meyer from Illinois and Cameron Champ of Texas A&M at 4-under par. Martin is three shots back.
The final round of play will begin at 9 a.m. Eastern. The Tar Heels are paired with Florida State and USC. The tournament is being played at the Olympia Fields Country Club North Course.
