Tar Heels Host Seminoles In Matchup of Ranked Foes
• Carolina begins a two-game ACC homestand on 1/14 vs. Florida State. Game time is 2 p.m.
• The Tar Heels are 15-3, 3-1 in the ACC after consecutive wins over Clemson, NC State and Wake Forest.
• The Seminoles are 16-1, 4-0 in the ACC. Florida State is ranked ninth in the AP poll and 10th by the coaches.
• The Seminoles are tied with Notre Dame atop the ACC standings at 4-0; the Tar Heels are third at 3-1.
• Carolina returns to action on Monday, 1/16, at home vs. Syracuse. Game time is 7 p.m.
• The Tar Heels are ranked #11 in the AP poll and #12 in the USA Today/Coaches poll.
• Freshman forward Tony Bradley will not play vs. the Seminoles. He suffered a concussion at Wake Forest on 1/11. He is improving but there is no schedule for his return.
• Joel Berry II was named to the Sporting News mid-season All-America second team. He is one of three ACC players to make the second team with FSU's Dwayne Bacon and Duke's Luke Kennard.
UNC-FLORIDA STATE SERIES
• Carolina is 48-12 against Florida State, including 38-11 since the Seminoles joined the ACC.
• Carolina is 19-4 against FSU in Chapel Hill, including 16-4 in the Smith Center.
• The Tar Heels have won the last six games in the series and the last three played in the Smith Center (2011, 2013 and 2015).
• Roy Williams is 19-5 overall against FSU, including 18-5 as UNC's head coach. His teams are 7-1 vs. FSU in the Smith Center. The lone loss at home came in 2010.
• This is the 10th meeting between UNC and FSU in which both teams are ranked in the AP poll. Carolina is 5-4 in the previous nine games when both teams are ranked.

• Florida State has won the last two meetings in which both teams were ranked in the AP poll. Both games came in the ACC Tournament – 2009 in the semifinals in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and 2012 in the championship game in Philips Arena in Atlanta.
• Carolina was without a first-team All-ACC performer in each of those losses. Ty Lawson did not play in the '09 game (toe) and John Henson did not play in the 2012 game (wrist).
• The Seminoles have been the higher ranked team once in the previous nine meetings when both teams were ranked in the AP poll. That game was played in Charlotte in the 1992 ACC Tournament semifinals when 20th-ranked Carolina edged 18th-ranked Florida State, 80-76.
LAST YEAR IN TALLAHASSEE
• The teams combined for 196 points, most in a game since Carolina beat Maryland, 108-91, on Feb. 3, 2009.
• The 106 points are the third most by Carolina against the Seminoles, but the most since FSU joined the ACC in 1991-92.
• Carolina shot its highest percentage for a half in the second (.657) and scored 65 points in the second half.
• Brice Johnson had 39 points, 23 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
• Marcus Paige scored 30 points and had five assists and zero turnovers in 35 minutes.
• It was the first time UNC had two players with 30 points in the same game since 2/8/98 at Georgia Tech when Shammond Williams went for 42 and Antawn Jamison had 31 in a 107-100, double OT win.
• Joel Berry II had 12 points and four assists. He is the only Tar Heel to score in double figures in each of the last seven games.
• Berry II hit one three-pointer, but it was a key shot as he buried a three with 1:46 to play to push the lead back to double figures where it stayed for the rest of the game. He scored all three of his second-half field goals and seven points in the final 4:47.
• Kennedy Meeks missed his seventh straight game due to a bruised bone in his left knee.
• Florida State's Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points. He scored 35 in Chapel Hill in 2015, making him the first opponent to score 30 points in consecutive games vs. UNC since Duke's Nolan Smith in 2011.
BERRY, JACKSON NAMED TO WOODEN MID-SEASON LIST
• Juniors Joel Berry II and Justin Jackson were two of 25 players named to the mid-season watch list for the John R. Wooden National Player of the Year Award.
• Carolina is one of five schools with two players on the list (with Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA and Wisconsin).
• The ACC and the Pac-12 led all conferences with five players apiece on the 25-man list. Berry and Jackson are joined on the list by Florida State's Dwayne Bacon, Duke's Luke Kennard and Clemson's Jaron Blossomgame.
TAR HEEL NOTES
Scoring/Shooting
• Carolina is averaging 89.3 points per game, first in the ACC and seventh in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have scored under 80 points four times, 80 or more 14 times, 90 or more 10 times and 100 or more five times.
• Carolina is fourth in the nation in scoring margin, seventh in points per game and fourth in assists.
• Carolina is 10th nationally in offensive efficiency and 12th in defensive efficiency (KenPom's version of points per 100 possessions).
• Small forward Justin Jackson and point guard Joel Berry II are Carolina's leading two scorers. The last time UNC's top two scorers were perimeter players was 1990-91, when small forward Rick Fox (16.9) and shooting guard Hubert Davis (13.3) were UNC's top two scorers.
• Four Tar Heels are averaging in double figures in all games and in the 15 wins, but in the three losses only Justin Jackson (23.7) and Joel Berry II (13.0) are averaging double figures. The Tar Heels have scored 76.7 points in their three losses (11.2 below season average).
• Three different perimeter players have led UNC in scoring in 15 of the 18 games (Justin Jackson has been the top scorer eight times, Joel Berry II five and Kenny Williams twice.)
• Forward Isaiah Hicks led UNC in scoring twice (consecutive games against Hawai'i and Chaminade) and forward Kennedy Meeks topped the Tar Heels with 18 points vs. Northern Iowa.
• Justin Jackson leads the team with 16 double-figure scoring games. Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks are second with 13.
• Justin Jackson has scored 20 or more points seven times, including 27 or more four times. Brice Johnson scored 27 or more four times last year en route to first-team All-America honors.
• The last player to score 27 or more points five times in a season was Tyler Hansbrough who did it six times in 2008-09 (he did it 11 times in 2007-08).
• Jackson's scoring average is up 5.5 points from a year ago (12.2 to 17.7). The last returning starter to improve that much in one season was Marcus Paige, who increased his average 9.3 points from his freshman to sophomore seasons.
• Four Tar Heels have scored 20 or more points in a game this year. Justin Jackson has seven 20-point games, Joel Berry II has six, and Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks each reached that mark once.
• The last time UNC had two players with at least six 20-point games in a season was 2014 when Marcus Paige (11) and James Michael McAdoo (6) accomplished that.
• The last time two players scored 20 points seven or more times in a season was 2012 when Harrison Barnes (12) and Tyler Zeller (11) combined for 23 20-point performances.
• The Tar Heels have hit the century mark five times this year. That's the most 100-point games in one season since 2008-09, when the eventual national champions hit 100 nine times.
• Earlier this season, Kennedy Meeks and Justin Jackson became the 73rd and 74th Tar Heels to score 1,000 career points. Carolina has more 1,000-point scorers than any other school in the nation.
• Justin Jackson and Kennedy Meeks are nearly tied for the top spot as UNC's active career leader. Jackson has 1,214 points; Meeks has one point less. They both reached the 1200-point mark at Wake Forest on 1/11.
• Joel Berry II has 887 points (needs 113 for 1,000 and Isaiah Hicks has 871 points (needs 129 for 1,000).
• The Tar Heels are shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from 3FG in the 15 wins and 41.7 percent from the floor and 31.1 percent from 3FG in the three losses.
• The opponents are shooting 38.2 percent from the floor and 31.3 percent 3FG in Carolina's 15 wins and 48.6 percent from the floor and 42.0 percent from 3FG in UNC's three defeats.
Rebounding
• Carolina leads the nation in rebound margin (13.6 per game) and rebounds per game (45.6) and is second in offensive rebounding (16.2 per game). The Tar Heels lead the ACC in all three categories.

• Carolina has 291 offensive rebounds, while the opponents have 394 defensive rebounds. The Tar Heels are getting 42.5 percent of their own missed shots. On the defensive end of the floor, UNC is grabbing 74.4 percent of the missed shots.
• Carolina is second in the country in offensive rebound percentage behind Kent State. UNC is one of six teams with an offensive rebounding percentage of at least .400.
• Kennedy Meeks leads UNC with 70 offensive boards, is eighth in the country in offensive rebounding percentage (17.0 percent) and is 10th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game.
• Freshman Tony Bradley is second with 60 offensive rebounds. He grabs 22.8 percent of the offensive rebounds when he is on the floor.

• Justin Jackson is 40 for 75 (.533) from three-point range in games where he makes more than one and 4 for 36 in games where he makes none or one.
• Jackson has 44 three-pointers in 18 games. He made 28 in 38 games as a freshman and 35 in 40 games as a sophomore.
• Justin Jackson has made four or more three-pointers six times this season (four times in the last eight games). Prior to this season, he made four in a game once (vs. Virginia in the 2015 ACC Tournament).
