SERIES HISTORY
Sunday marks the 23rd all-time meeting between UNC and Appalachian State. It's the third most frequent non-conference opponent the Tar Heels have played, trailing only East Carolina (27 games) and former ACC member Maryland (76). The Tar Heels have won 16 straight games over the Mountaineers going all the way back to 1977-78.
LAST TIME OUT
Janelle Bailey scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace North Carolina to a 90-70 victory over Hartford. The victory was No. 995 for North Carolina head coach Sylvia Hatchell, moving her within five of reaching 1,000 career victories.
Senior Jamie Cherry tossed in 19 points, junior Paris Kea added 14 points and seven assists and sophomore Taylor Koenen had 11.Â

• Paris Kea is off to a phenomenal start to her second season with the Tar Heels, ranking fourth in the ACC at 19.4 points per game. She is also third in the ACC and 13th nationally with 7.1 assists per game.
• Kea scored 31 points against South Alabama, one shy of her career high, and are the 3rd most points scored in a game this season in the ACC.Â
• She also handed out a career-high 11 assists against the Jaguars to notch her second career double-double.
• Kea is among five ACC players to score 30 point in a game this season.
• Kea has either made (52) or assisted (50) on 45.7 percent (102-of-223) of Carolina's field goals thus far this season.

Among ACC freshman, Janelle Bailey ranks first in the league in scoring with 16.3 points per game. She is shooting a robust 57.5 percent from the field, the 5th best average in the conference. Bailey had a season-high 25 points against Hartford, and registered 13 rebounds against the Hawks for her third double-double of her rookie season.
KOENEN'S CAREER DAY
Sophomore Taylor Koenen, a native Minnesotan, had the best game of her young career against the Golden Gophers on Wednesday by scoring a career-high 21 points and had six rebounds and six assists in playing all 40 minutes. Koenen is averaging 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, an increase of her 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds she contributed as a freshman in 2016-17.
