RALEIGH, N.C. - North Carolina freshman Khazia Hislop has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Freshman of the Year.

Hislop claims an EAGL Ranking of No. 1 on Floor Exercise, and No. 9 on Balance Beam after the regular season. UNC Head Coach Derek Galvin says that Hislop has “beautiful dance and lines on Floor Exercise and Balance Beam. Khazia floats on her leaps, jumps and tumbling. She has competed with an injured wrist all year which has prevented her from vaulting.” Hislop boasts winning the EAGL Rookie Gymnast of the Week a total of five times this season.

Hislop's 2017 scores included:

 BEAM – RQS 9.845; Ave. 9.806; High 9.90

 FLOOR – RQS 9.885; Ave. 9.875; High 9.925
