ACC Tournament Events & Initiatives

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Below is information on a number of initiatives surrounding the 2017 New York Life ACC Tournament. For more information on each, please click the link in the title.
The tournament will begin on Tuesday and will conclude with a primetime championship game on Saturday. All games will be nationally televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU and the ACC Network. Following each game, postgame press conferences with the head coach and selected players will be streamed live on theACC.com and ACC Network Extra. Fans can view these at http://theacc.co/mbb17pressers.
The Official ACC Tournament App can be found as a free download in the Apple iTunes and Google Play stores. The app consists of a variety of extensive content designed to enhance the game-day experience by delivering schedules, maps, live game radio broadcast audio, live game scores and stats, real-time social streams and more.
Fans are advised of venue policies that will be in place for the 2017 New York Life ACC Tournament. All guests entering the arena are subject to security screening, visual inspection and bag inspection conducted by Barclays Center security personnel. Security screenings are designed to detect prohibited items from entering the venue. Barclays Center has a no re-entry policy for all events. Doors will open one hour prior to the start of each session.
The sale of beer and wine to those of legal age will be extended to all ticketed patrons. The alcohol policy enforced by Barclays Center will be in effect for the 2017 New York Life ACC Tournament. Declaration of ACC Tournament Week in Brooklyn
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will tip off the week of the 2017 New York Life ACC Tournament festivities by proclaiming March 6-11 to be ACC Tournament Week in Brooklyn. The declaration will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 6 on the Resorts World Casino Plaza at Barclays Center, with remarks from Adams, ACC Commissioner John Swofford and CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Brett Yormark, joined by the 15 ACC mascots.
The ACC and New York Life will welcome young men from the Eagle Academy for a career panel and Barclays Center tour on Monday, March 6 before the New York Life ACC Tournament. The 30 middle school youth will hear from a panel of sports business leaders from the ACC, New York Life, ESPN, Barclays Center and the Strategic Agency about their career paths and current roles. Cory Alexander, a former basketball standout at the University of Virginia, will discuss the importance of education and his transition to being a commentator for the ACC Network and ESPN.
Most Valuable Kids Ticket Return Program
The ACC will welcome children from the Most Valuable Kids program to the New York Life ACC Tournament for games on Tuesday, March 7. The ACC will provide 2,000 tickets through the Most Valuable Kids program, which, for over nine years, has offered hope, motivation and positive reinforcement to at-risk and underserved kids in New York by providing them with sporting and cultural event experiences as a reward for their academic achievement and positive social behavior.
The ACC continued an initiative to recognize local Teachers of the Year, by inviting them to ACC Championship events. Brooklyn area Big Apple Award Winners and their guests were invited to attend the championship game of the New York Life ACC Tournament.
Wounded Warrior Project, National Anthem & Color Guard
The ACC is once again collaborating with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to invite WWP injured service members and their guests to the game. The two invited Warriors and family members will have VIP hospitality in the arena and Championship Game tickets. In addition, these two heroes will take part in a special pregame ceremony on the court, while the colors will be presented by representatives of the United States Navy Recruiting Battalion.
The ceremony will be preceded by the singing of God Bless America by the official vocalist of the West Point Band, Master Sergeant MaryKay Messenger. The National Anthem will then be performed by award-winning actor, Marine combat veteran, singer, filmmaker and philanthropist, J.W. Cortés.
ACC Legends Reception presented by New York Life
The annual ACC Men's Basketball Legends Reception presented by New York Life will be held on Friday, March 10 at Barclays Center. The signature event will recognize standouts who have contributed to the league's rich tradition. The 2017 ACC Men's Basketball Legends will also be honored during a ceremony at halftime of the first semifinal game. More information on this year's Legends class can be found at theACC.com/Legends.
