Tar Heels Win, 16-9, At Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, IND. – The second-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse team got four goals from Molly Hendrick and five points from Carly Reed as the Tar Heels picked up their eighth consecutive win on Sunday, 16-9, at No. 12 Notre Dame.
With the victory, Carolina won its 17th consecutive game against an ACC opponent and improved to 11-1 this season, 4-0 in ACC action. The Fighting Irish fell to 9-5, 3-2.
Hendrick led the way with a game-high four goals on Sunday, and Carly Reed had three goals and two assists. Marie McCool and Ela Hazar each had two goals and two assists, Sammy Jo Tracy scored three goals and Sydney Holman had a pair of assists. Maggie Bill and Marisa DiVietro each scored one goal.
Courtney Fortunato scored three goals and an assist for Notre Dame and Casey Pearsall had two goals and two assists.
The Tar Heels have won 28 of their last 29 games and improved to 7-0 all-time against Notre Dame.
As a team, Carolina won 17 of 27 draw controls in the game, led by Sammy Jo Tracy's five and Alex Moore's four. The Tar Heels also out-shot the Irish, 47-27.
Senior All-America Caylee Waters started in goal for Carolina and picked up the victory, improving to 11-1 this season while recording 12 saves, allowing nine goals, causing a turnover and collecting a ground ball.
Carolina will return to action on Saturday April 8 at Louisville.
