No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Advances To ACC Final With Win Over Syracuse

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 1 North Carolina women's lacrosse advanced to the ACC Tournament final for the 18th time after defeating No. 6 Syracuse, 19-9, on Friday in the semifinals. The Heels will take on the winner of Stanford and Clemson on Sunday at noon.
Chloe Humphrey led the way for the Heels with five goals and four assists. Her nine points moved her to 127 points on the season, setting UNC's single-season record for points, passing her older sister Ashley who set the record with 121 points last season.
Addison Pattillo added four goals on the night, while Eliza Osburn, Caroline Godine and Darcy Felter tallied two apiece.
The Heels once again dominated the draw control taking the category 21-9. Sarah Gresham had a season high with 12 DCs, while Eliza Osburn chipped in with four.
The defense stepped up and held Syracuse in single digits. The group caused nine turnovers and forced a total of 15.

How It Happened
- Chloe Humphrey buried a free position two minutes in to get the Heels on the board first.
- Darcy Felter spun and fired from the crease on a feed from Humphrey to make it 2-1.
- Eva Ingrilli followed up with a goal of her own from Kate Levy.
- Eliza Osburn wove through the defense and scored on a nice solo effort to make it 4-1 and force a Syracuse timeout.
- Addison Pattillo scored her first on a free position to make it 5-1 Heels just over five minutes in.
- Felter with another as she sliced down the pipe and Levy found her for the finish.
- Osburn with her second on a feed from Caroline Godine to push the lead to 7-1.
- Humphrey saw her initial free position saved but she picked up the ground ball and fired home for her second of the game to make it 8-2 UNC.
- Humphrey bagged her hat trick to make it 9-3 early in the second.
- Godine ripped home a free position to push UNC's lead to 10-4.
- Pattillo with her second of the day on a lefty rocket to make it 11-4.
- Pattillo beat the buzzer with a behind-the-back shot on a feed from Humphrey to make it 12-4 at the break.
- Humphrey picked up a loose ball in the crease and fired it home backwards to make it 13-6 UNC.
- Levy scored her first of the game seconds later to make it 14-6.
- Godine used an assist from Humphrey to bank her second of the game and push the lead to 15-6.
- Humphrey's fifth of the game doubles up Syracuse 16-8 midway through the fourth.
- Pattillo fired home in the upper right corner off a feed from Humphrey to make it 17-8.
- Julia O'Connor with a BTB to get on the board that gave UNC a 10-goal lead.

- This was the 23rd match-up between UNC and Syracuse with Carolina holding a 15-8 advantage.
- Carolina has advanced to the ACC Tournament final for the 18th time. They'll look to improve their record in finals to 9-9 on Sunday.
- Chloe Humphrey set the UNC single-season points record with four points in the first half to give her 122 on the year. She broke her older sister Ashley's record of 121 set last year. Chloe currently sits at 127 points this season.
