UNC Faces BC At ACC Tournament

CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina opens the 41st ACC Tournament against 13-seed Boston College in the first round on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Greensboro Coliseum at 1 p.m.
UNC and BC met once previously in the ACC Tournament, a 62-57 Tar Heel win on March 8, 2013. The Tar Heels lost 77-64 on Jan. 5 at Boston College in the only meeting in the regular season, and has dropped two straight in the series.

SERIES HISTORY
Carolina leads 12-3 in the all-time series with Boston College. However, the Eagles have won the last two head-to-head meetings in 2017 and 2018. All 15 games in the series have come since BC joined the ACC during the 2005-06 season.
LAST TIME OUT
Carolina lost 70-54 at No. 20 Duke on Sunday. Senior Jamie Cherry scored a team-high 20 points with six rebounds and six assists. Freshman star Janelle Bailey registered her 12th double-double with an even 12 points and 12 rebounds.Â
Duke was led by its senior duo of Rebecca Greenwell and Lexie Brown that combined for 53 points in their final home game. Greenwell tied her career high with 31 points and hauled in 13 rebounds, while Brown offered up 11 assists to go with 22 points.Â
The Blue Devils, up by two at the half, scored the first 15 points of the second half, nine by Greenwell, to break the game open. Greenwell had 15 points in the quarter that ended with Duke up 56-36.
LAST MEETING WITH BOSTON COLLEGE
Taylor Ortlepp scored a career-high 23 points to lead Boston College to a 77-64 victory over North Carolina on Friday, Jan. 5 at Conte Forum. Janelle finished with 18 points and eight rebounds before fouling out to pace North Carolina. Paris Kea contributed 16 points and Jamie Cherry had 12.Â
Ortlepp made five of Boston College's 11 three-pointers to snap a three-game losing streak for the Eagles. Milan Bolden-Morris tossed in 18 points, Georgia Pineau had 15 points and Andie Anastos had 13.
BACK HOME AT THE ACC TOURNAMENT
Paris Kea played her prep career at Greensboro's Page High School, and graduated as the Pirates all-time scoring leader in 2014. She was a three-time AP All-State selection and was a McDonald's All-America nominee after averaging 24.2 points and 7.1 rebounds as a senior.
CHERRY, KEA ACC TOURNAMENT CAREERS
In five career games in the ACC Tournament, senior Jamie Cherry has averaged 18.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. She scored a career-high 32 points in the first round of the 2017 tournament against Pitt and had 24 the following night against Syracuse.Â
Paris Kea averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds last year in her first appearance in the ACC Tournament. She had 21 points against the Panthers and added 17 versus the Orange.
