Tar Heels Conclude Regular Season Friday vs. Campbell

CHAPEL HILL – After a seven-game road trip, North Carolina hosts Campbell for a single game 7 p.m. Friday at Anderson Stadium to wrap up the 2018 regular season. Fans can watch on the ACC Network Extra or follow at UNClivestats.com.

Finishing ACC play with a 1-1 series outcome at Syracuse, North Carolina (28-25, 15-8 ACC) holds steady in the No. 2 spot in the ACC Coastal division with series wins over NC State, Notre Dame and Virginia, and sweeps over Duke and Virginia Tech. Carolina logged its fifth ACC series win over NC State, capping off the series with a Monday night, 8-0 in six innings on ESPNU. The Tar Heels tacked on another win two days later, topping ECU, 4-3 in a back-and-forth contest that was settled by Brittany Pickett's second home run in as many games to total five for the week. Kiani Ramsey leads the team with a .386 average for the season with a team-best 53 hits. With a .348 average, Taylor Wike tops the team leaderboards in several offensive categories: home runs (8), RBI (32), slugging percentage (.594) and on-base percentage (.446). Leah Murray owns a .344 average, leading the team in runs scored (31) and stolen bases (32). With a 26-11 record, Pickett ranks second nationally in victories and eighth in shutouts, tossing two against NC State.

Campbell (25-24, 12-9 Big South) wraps up the final weekend of the regular season with a three-game road trip at North Carolina A&T Thursday, UNC Friday and Duke Saturday before traveling to Radford for the Big South Tournament. Rachel McCollum and Caroline Smith lead Campbell's offense, averaging .382 and .346.
The Series
UNC leads the all-time series, 60-14 with wins in the two most recent matchups. The Tar Heels and Camels met five times in 1977 with the Camels winning four of those meetings. However, since that time, Carolina owns a 59-10 record over Campbell, including wins in four of the past five games. The Tar Heels are 30-7 at home against Campbell.
