Hitt Leads Men's Golf With Opening 69

Tar Heels Ninth at Louisville After 18 Holes
Austin Hitt shot a 2-under-par 69 to lead the University of North Carolina men's golf team to an even-par 284, good for a tie for ninth place after round one at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge Friday at the U of L Golf Club.
Duke leads after shooting 27-under-257. Wake Forest and Louisville are tied for second at 16 under.
Hitt (Longwood, Fla.) was even through 11 holes, then birdied 12, 13 and 17, and bogeyed 14 for a 2-under-par back nine and total to tie for 16th place.
Freshman Dougie Ergood (Mount Laurel, N.J.) birdied the final three holes for an even-par 71. Preyer Fountain also shot 71. Ryan Burnett and Ryan Gerard both shot 74.
Round two is scheduled for Saturday with the final 18 holes set for Sunday.
