Tar Heels Host Georgia Tech, Clemson for CF Awareness & Professor Appreciation Night

CHAPEL HILL – Undefeated at home in ACC play, North Carolina wraps a four-match homestand by hosting Georgia Tech and Clemson in Carmichael Arena Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Friday is CF Awareness and Professor Appreciation Night. The Tar Heels will wear purple shoelaces and scrunchies for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Night, recognizing their youngest teammate, Kelsie Houston. Friday's honorary team captain, Kelsie joined the team in the summer as part of Team Impact.
The first 100 students and 100 fans will receive free pizza on Friday. The Tar Heels will sign autographs after Sunday's match in the Carmichael lobby. Doors open one hour prior to first serve. Fans unable to attend can watch both on ACCNX or follow at unclivestats.com.
Recently for the Tar Heels (10-10, 5-7 ACC)
Carolina extended its home winning streak to seven matches with wins over Syracuse and Boston College. Led by double-digit kill matches from Lauren Harrison (16) and Aristea Tontai (10), North Carolina topped Syracuse, 3-1, on Friday night. The Tar Heels came from behind in the first two sets, taking a 2-0 lead. However, Syracuse took the third behind Polina Shemanova's six of 23 total kills in the frame before Carolina sealed the deal by attacking .448 in the fourth set for the 3-1 win.
Following head coach Joe Sagula's announcement of being inducted into the NC Volleyball Hall of Fame, North Carolina swept Boston College on Sunday afternoon on Alumni Day. For the second time in two weeks, the Tar Heels hit over .300 en route to their second ACC sweep. Carolina improved to .500 on the season for the first time since 2017 at 10-10 and 7-3 in ACC play.
The Tar Heels lead the conference and rank 21st nationally with 211.0 total blocks while both Aristea Tontai and Skyy Howard rank top-10 in the ACC in blocks per set. Ranking fifth in the conference, Lauren Harrison leads the Tar Heels with 3.68 kills per set.

Setting a program record of six-straight sweeps, Georgia Tech wrapped up a four-match homestand with wins over Florida State and Miami. GT ranks top-25 nationally in assists per set, kills per set and hitting percentage - led by Kodie Comby who ranks second nationally with a .454 clip.
About Clemson (10-11, 4-6 ACC)
Series: UNC leads, 61-17 (Clemson won, 3-0 on Oct. 28, 2018 in Clemson, S.C.)
Winning four of their past five matches, Clemson travels to North Carolina to begin a four-match roadtrip. Most recently, the Tigers swept Miami and dropped a four-set match to Florida State. Kaylin Korte leads the Tigers with 286 kills, averaging 3.76 to rank third in the ACC.
