Burnett Plays Bogey-Free Round at NCAA Championship

Tar Heels 18th After 36 Holes
Tar Heel freshman Ryan Burnett (Lafayette, Calif.) shot a 2-under-par 70 to lead the University of North Carolina in round two of the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
Burnett and Vanderbilt's Harrison Ott were the only two competitors in the 156-player field to play the round without a bogey. Burnett had 16 pars and birdies on the 605-yard, par-5 10th hole (his first hole of the day) and the 560-yard, par-5 15th.
Ott made one birdie and 17 pars to shoot 71 for the Commodores.
Carolina shot 12-over-300 today, four strokes better than its opening round score, but UNC fell from 12th to 18th place after 36 holes. UNC is 28 over par, three shots behind 15th place SMU (the top 15 teams after Sunday's third round advance to Monday's fourth and final round of stroke play).
SMU is 15th, UNLV is 16th at +26, Pepperdine is 17th at +27, Carolina is tied for 18th with South Carolina at +28 and North Florida is 20th at +30.
Defending champion Oklahoma State shot 12 under on Saturday, the day's best round by 11 shots, and leads at 12-under-566. Stanford is second at 2 over.
Ryan Gerard (Raleigh) made three birdies and ended the day at 1-over-73. He is tied for 16th place after rounds of 72 and 73. Burnett opened with a 79 on Friday and is tied for 48th at 5 over.
Austin Hitt (78), Joshua Martin (79) and Dougie Ergood (80) also competed for the Tar Heels. Carolina was 6 over for the round through its first 14 holes, but played its final four holes in 6 over.
Oklahoma State's Austin Eckroat leads the individual standings at 6-under-138, a stroke ahead of teammate Matthew Wolff, the number-one ranked player, and Cal's Collin Morikawa, the day one leader.
Only one team and eight players are under par at the 7,550-yard Blessings Golf Club.
