IN THE RANKINGS
Heading into the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Tar Heels own 22 top-10 times/marks in the ACC, six top-20 times/marks in the East Region and five top-50 times/marks in NCAA Division I competition. Three Tar Heel women – Nicole Greene, Jill Shippee, Madison Wiltrout – have ranked among the top-10 competitors in the NCAA on numerous occasions. All three women held onto NCAA top-10 rankings for three consecutive weeks to close out regular-season competition.
Greene did not fall below No. 2 in the nation for the entirety of the outdoor regular season and tied her current event coach, Nicole Hudson, for third all-time in UNC high jump history (6-0
3/4 (1.82m)) at the Raleigh Relays on March 29.
Shippee has set the North Carolina hammer record a total of four times – 207-4 at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships, 210-6 at the 2018 USATF Junior Outdoor National Championships, 212-1 at the Raleigh Relays on March 30 and 220-1 (67.09m) at the Battle of the Blues on April 6.
Wiltrout topped the UNC record books in the women's javelin after throwing 181-4 (55.28m) at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational on April 12. Her shortest throw of the year still bests the third-best performance in the ACC by seven and a half feet.
