Carolina Travels North to Face Miami (Ohio), Michigan State

CHAPEL HILL – After picking up their first win of the season, the Tar Heels travel north to Michigan for a pair of nonconference matchups Friday vs. Miami (Ohio) in Rochester at Oakland University and Sunday at Michigan State in East Lansing.
Weekend Schedule
Friday vs. Miami (Ohio) at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan at 6 p.m.
Sunday at Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan at 1 p.m.
Recently for the Tar Heels (1-4)
The Tar Heels defeated UC Irvine in four sets, but fell to Cal and UNLV in Irvine, California. Carolina out-aced its opponents 23-10, led by Karenna Wurl's five vs. UCI.
About Miami (Ohio) (3-3)
Series: UNC leads, 3-2 (UNC won, 3-0 on Sept. 17, 2011 in Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Following a split weekend at the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, Miami (Ohio) faces UNC in a neutral match before taking on Oakland for the Redhawks' first true road match of the season. Margaret Payne leads the team with 53 kills and a .356 attack percentage.
About Michigan State (4-1)
Series: MSU leads, 4-2 (MSU won, 3-1 on Sept. 1, 2018 in Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Remaining at home for five straight matches, Michigan State hosts Oakland and North Carolina before traveling to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Despite a five-set loss to No. 21 Tennessee, the Spartans opened the season with four-straight wins. Meredith Norris leads the team with 74 kills, 3.89 kills per set.
