Hislop & Culton Earn EAGL Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Two Carolina gymnasts were awarded East Atlantic Gymnast League honors after their Week One performance against William & Mary on January 12, 2020. Khazia Hislop was named Specialist of the Week and Elizabeth Culton was named Rookie of the Week to kick of the Tar Heels 2020 season.

Senior Khazia Hislop was named Specialist of the Week after winning each of the three events she competed in at Sunday afternoon's meet. Hislop placed first on vault (9.900), beam (9.825), and floor (9.850) to help bring UNC to victory over William & Mary.

Hislop has been averaging at or above a score of 9.850 on floor for 20 consecutive meets dating back to 2018 and was named Specialist of the Week for six consecutive weeks during the 2019 season.

Freshman Elizabeth Culton made her collegiate debut as a Tar Heel on Sunday and did not disappoint. Culton participated in all four events for the UNC and earned her first podium finishes with first on bars (9.850) and tied for third on beam (9.675).

Elizabeth Culton also earned her first all-around title on Sunday against William & Mary (39.050).
The Tar Heels will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 17 as they travel to Lexington, Ky., to take on the Kentucky Wildcats at 7 p.m.Â
