Men's Soccer To Visit Clemson In Top-Five Matchup Tuesday

The Kick Off
• North Carolina will play another challenging Atlantic Coast Conference opponent on the road when it visits Clemson on Tuesday night. UNC will try to bounce back from a 1-0 loss at top-ranked Wake Forest on Oct. 18 in its last outing.
• The Tar Heels are 2-1 this season (2-1 in the ACC) and were ranked No. 5 last week by the United Soccer Coaches. Clemson is 5-1, 3-1 was ranked No. 3 last week. The new coaches poll should be released on Tuesday afternoon.
• Opening kick is scheduled for just after 7 p.m. The ACC Network will televise the game live.
• Clemson and Wake Forest are tied atop the ACC South Region standings with matching 3-1 records. UNC is a half-game back at 2-1.
• Clemson is coming off a 1-0 at NC State on Friday. Carolina hasn't played since a 1-0 loss at Wake Forest on Oct. 18.
• Previously, UNC beat Clemson, 1-0, on Oct. 9 and won its season opener at Duke, 2-0, on Oct. 2.

• Filippo Zattarin scored on a header with just 0:01 remaining in the second half to lift North Carolina to a 1-0 win over No. 3 Clemson on Oct. 9 at Dorrance Field.Â
• Zattarin's game-winner came on a set play that began with 0:05 to play after a Clemson foul 10 yards outside of the box on the left side. Carolina's Milo Garvanian sent the free kick into a scrum inside the box, where freshman Akeim Clarke redirected the ball high up into the air.Â
• Zattarin then got a running start and headed the ball into the upper right corner of the net just before the buzzer sounded. Video review showed the goal came with 0:01 remaining in regulation.
• The game marked the first time the Tigers had been held scoreless in over a year, since a scoreless tie against Virginia Tech on Oct. 5, 2019.
Top-Ranked Wake Forest Edges #3 UNC, 1-0
• Kyle Holcomb scored in overtime to lift No. 1 Wake Forest to a 1-0 win over No. 3 North Carolina in men's soccer action at Spry Stadium on Oct. 18.
• On the winning play, Omar Hernandez sent a long cross into the box from 25 yards away on the left side. Holcomb beat UNC goalkeeper Alec Smir to the ball by a split second and put it in the net for the Demon Deacon victory.
• It was the first goal allowed by Carolina in the 2020 season.Â
