The Tar Heel women placed fifth overall at the 2020 ACC Championship.
Cross Country Women 5th, Men 7th At ACC Championships

CARY, N.C. – North Carolina's women finished fifth and the Tar Heel men were seventh on Friday morning at the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships, held at WakeMed Soccer Park. The finish by the Carolina women was the program's best since 2015, when UNC also took fifth.

Sasha Neglia had the day's best Tar Heel finish, placing sixth overall in the women's race (20:24.6) to earn All-ACC honors and the title of ACC Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year as the top true freshman finisher. Senior Paige Hofstad was 11th (20:35.3) and freshman Kelsey Harrington was 19th (20:41.1) to join Neglia in earning All-ACC honors. For Hofstad, it's the second year in a row she's earned All-ACC recognition.
On the men's side, junior John Tatter was 28th for the top Carolina finish in23:51.0. Freshman Will Coogan crossed in 24:08.2 for 38th place with sophomore Marshall Williamson (41st, 24:11.5) and freshman Patrick Anderson (42nd, 24:12.1) just behind.
Both Tar Heel teams improved significantly from 2019, when the women were eighth and the men 10th.
