It's Basketall Month For the Tar Heels
November 1, 2020 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With the change of the calendar to November, it's game month for the UNC women's basketball team.
After working through the summer and fall, the Tar Heels are just weeks away from the season opener on Nov. 25. (Stay tuned for a schedule announcement soon.) Coach Courtney Banghart's second UNC team includes just three players who saw action for the Tar Heels last season. Two of them – senior Janelle Bailey and sophomore Malu Tshitenge – earned Atlantic Coast Conference honors, while Kennady Tucker provided depth off the bench.
Making their Carolina blue debuts will be five freshmen – members of the nation's 10th-ranked incoming class – and a grad transfer guard, as well as a sophomore transfer. UNC also welcomes back Stephanie Watts, who played last season at Southern California, and Jaelynn Murray, who missed last season with a knee injury. Check out the entire 2020-21 roster here.
• The ACC Women's Basketball Tipoff will be televised live on Nov. 11 and 12 by the ACC Network. Click here for more info, and be sure to tune in on Nov. 11 for Banghart in the 5-7 p.m. block and UNC men's coach Roy Williams in the 7-9 p.m. block.
• And finally, a reminder for Tuesday:
(ICYMI, the women's basketball team is one of 25 UNC teams that reached 100 percent voter registration.)
