Tar Heels Host S.C. State Thursday Evening
December 3, 2020 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's basketball team returns to the court Thursday evening to host South Carolina State at Carmichael Arena. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live here on ACC Network Extra and here on radio. There is no public admission to Carmichael.
The Tar Heels bring a 3-0 record into their first evening game, following a trio of afternoon wins last week over Radford, UNCG and High Point. Six Tar Heels are scoring in double figures as UNC averages 93.7 points per game, second in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels lead the league in scoring margin, rebounding margin and turnover margin.

The Tar Heels are averaging 45 point per game off the bench this season. That speaks volumes about the team's depth compared with last year, when the high for bench points was 26 and there were four games the total was zero. Despite leading the ACC in scoring margin and ranking second in scoring average, Carolina doesn't have a player individually ranked in the ACC's top 25.
Thursday's game is the fourth of five nonconference games to start the season. The fifth is on Sunday when Charlotte visits Carmichael for a 4 p.m. tipoff. After that, the Tar Heels will look ahead to ACC play, which begins on Dec. 10 with a trip to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest.
