Tar Heels Welcome Syracuse for ACC Series

CHAPEL HILL – After winning the series against Pittsburgh, North Carolina wraps up a seven-game homestand with Syracuse Friday through Sunday at Anderson Stadium.
Friday's game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch. The series vs. Syracuse continues Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes Sunday at noon. Fans unable to make it to Anderson Stadium, can follow live stats at unclivestats.com or watch on the ACC Network Extra.
Weekend Promotions
Saturday is alumni day and the team will be recognizing 2019 graduate, Leah Murray who reset Carolina Softball's career stolen base record. The first 25 kids at Sunday's game will receive a concessions voucher. Kids are able to run the bases after the game.
Recently for North Carolina (8-11)
Snapping a six-game losing streak, North Carolina earned a 2-1 series win over Pittsburgh to begin ACC play. Despite dropping the league opener, the Tar Heels' offense exploded for 30 hits in the series, limiting Pitt to 10 runs. Hannah George earned both wins in the circle while Abby Settlemyre tallied a team-best seven hits with six stolen bases. The Tar Heels lead the ACC and ranking sixth nationally in stolen bases per game.
» Freshman Destiny Middleton tallied seven RBI on two hits between Saturday and Sunday's games. The freshman was also perfect at third base throughout the week, assisting seven outs and earning three.
» Freshman Caroline Cagle threw her first career strikeout on Friday while Katie Grace Olinger made her season debut to close out the game.
» Carolina scored in every inning of Sunday's game, highlighted by multi-hit performances by Abby Settlemyre, Lexi Godwin and Kiersten Licea. Godwin, Licea and Campbell Hutcherson each hit a home run during the weekend finale. Godwin hit a perfect 4-for-4.
About Syracuse (8-9)
After a 3-2 weekend at the USF Tournament, Syracuse opens ACC play at North Carolina for the Orange's first league trip to Chapel Hill in four seasons. Junior Neli Casares-Maher leads Syracuse with a .306 average and .510 slugging percentage. In the circle, Alexa Romero owns four wins in 53.2 innings.

Last meeting: Syracuse won, 1-0 on April 28, 2018 in Syracuse, N.Y.
