Taylor Named Head Coach At Navy
April 28, 2020 | Women's Basketball
Following one season as an assistant coach at North Carolina, Tim Taylor has been named head women's basketball coach at the U.S. Naval Academy. It's the first collegiate head coaching position for Taylor, a long-time assistant coach.
"As a program, we celebrate Tim as he takes on this new chapter in his life," UNC coach Courtney Banghart said. "Tim has served for a long tenure in the sport of women's basketball and has waited patiently for a chance to take over his own program. He cares most about building meaningful relationships while making an impact and leaving a legacy in those lives that he touches. He is enormously proud to be able to represent one of the more special institutions in our country."
Taylor becomes the fourth former Banghart assistant serving as a head coach. Others are Melanie Moore at Xavier, Megan Griffith at Columbia and Chessie Jackson at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
Before coming to UNC as part of Banghart's first staff in 2019, Taylor spent three separate stints at Virginia. He also has coached boys' basketball on the high school and club levels.
