CHAPEL HILL/DURHAM, N.C.—Players from North Carolina, Duke, NC State and Virginia Tech concluded action Monday in the third and final day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Challenge, co-hosted by Duke and UNC.

Carolina players went 2-1 in doubles matches and 2-4 in singles on Monday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The doubles duos of sophomore Rinky Hijikata and freshman Adam Neff won UNC's first doubles match of the day, and freshman Peter Murphy and senior Simon Soendergaard followed suit with a doubles win.

Hijikata and Murphy won singles matches for the Tar Heels.

At the close of the event, Duke's Samuel Rubell and Andrew Zhang were declared the overall singles co-champions, while Carolina's Soendergaard and Neff were the overall doubles champs.

The Tar Heels, ranked second in the nation in the preseason ITA Rankings, will open their dual season when they host a regional in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Sunday and Monday January 24 and 25.
