Carolina Hosts Notre Dame Sunday at Noon

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women's basketball team plays at home Sunday for the first time in 10 days, hosting Notre Dame for a noon tipoff at Carmichael Arena.

UNC comes into the game 7-5 overall and 2-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, looking to break a three-game losing streak and pick up its first win in 2021.

The Tar Heels and Fighting Irish are meeting for the 12th time in a series that dates back to the 1999-2000 season, when Notre Dame won 99-86 in a neutral-site game played in Richmond, Va., on Dec. 4, 1999. Notre Dame leads the overall series 2-9 and the ACC series 7-1.
UNC pulled off an upset in the last matchup played in Chapel Hill, beating the top-ranked Irish 78-73 on Jan. 27, 2019. Paris Kea scored 30 points and handed out 10 assists as the Tar Heels beat a No. 1-ranked team for the first time since 2006.
In the most recent meeting, UNC fell 83-65 on Feb. 27, 2020, at Notre Dame. A trio of then-seniors led the Tar Heels in scoring, Taylor Koenen with 19, Shayla Bennett with 17 and Madinah Muhammad with 10.
Sunday's game will be the teams' fourth meeting at Carmichael Arena, with Notre Dame holding a 2-1 edge.
