Navy Takes A 6-5 Win In Game II Of The Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, NC -- Â The Navy team fell behind 3-0 in the first before roaring back to take a 6-3 lead and then hanging on to take a 6-5 win in Game two of the Fall World Series on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Vance Honeycutt led off the bottom of the first with a line shot that sailed out of the park in right center. Later in the inning Max Riemer drilled a two-run triple that was about an inch out of the park or being caught to give Blue a 3-0 lead.
Mac Horvath blasted a solo homer to left center in the third to give Navy its first run. Tomas Frick scored on a fielder's choice in the fourth to cut the Blue lead to 3-2.
Horvath's run-scoring triple in the fifth tied things up at 3-3. Tyler Causey then drove in a run with a single to put Navy up 4-3. Frick's two-run double to left center gave Navy a 6-3 lead after five.
Blue made things interesting with a run in each of the last two innings. Casey Cook drove in a run in the eighth with a double, then Danny Serretti hit a solo homer to right for the final 6-5 score.
Horvath and Frick drove in two runs apiece to lead the Navy attack. Horvath was 2-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Frick was 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Tyler Causey was 3-3 with one RBI and one run scored.
Four Blue team players had multiple base hits. Alberto Osuna was 3-5 with a double and one run scored. Honeycut was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Serritti and Johnny Castagnozzi were both 2-5 at the plate
Connor Bovair, Shawn Rapp, Carson Starnes, Connor Ollio and Gage Gillian threw for Navy. Rapp threw 2.2 scoreless inning while striking out four. Starnes threw 2.0 scoreless innings.
Will Sandy, Nik Pry, Caden O'Brien, Shaddon Peavyhouse and Davis Palermo threw for Blue. Palermo threw 2.0 scoreless innings while Peavyhouse tossed 1.2 scoreless innings.
The Tar Heels will play host to NCAA runneup Vanderbilt on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Game three of the Fall World Series will be played on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
