First-Half Goal Gives Pack 1-0 Women's Soccer Win

RALEIGH—NC State's Jameese Joseph scored in the 26th minute in the first half and the Wolfpack withstood a 24-8 edge in shots by North Carolina, holding on for a 1-0 women's soccer win at Dail Soccer Field on Saturday night in Raleigh.
Carolina falls to 10-2-2 overall, 3-2-2 in ACC play. The Wolfpack is 7-6-2, 3-4. The Tar Heels return to action Thursday against top-ranked Florida State. Gametime at Dorrance Field is 7 p.m.
The Tar Heels had a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks and forced NC State goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta to make eight saves. Claudia Dickey made two saves for the Tar Heels.
Carolina is now 47-3-2 all-time against the Pack.
