Navy Wins A Wild Game I Of The Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, NC -- Â The Navy team took a 9-3 lead after six innings and then barely hung on to take an 11-10 win over the Blue team in a wild, homer-filled game on Friday afternoon. There were a whopping nine home runs, five by Navy and four by Blue.
Danny Serretti gave the Blue team an early 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first before Navy exploded for six runs in the second. Navy got its first run on a bases-loaded walk, then Colby Wilkerson ripped a three-run double to left. Patrick Alvarez capped off the inning with a two-run homer to left center.
Blue cut into the lead in the third on Alberto Osuna's two-run double to left center. Navy responded with two runs in the sixth on Mac Horvath's homer. Â Brandon Eike's solo homer to right gave Navy a 9-3 lead in the sixth before Blue stormed back with a five-run seventh.
Hunter Stokely hit a solo shot to right center, then Johnny Castagnozzi drilled a three-run bomb to left. Clemente Inclan capped off the inning with a solo shot to right.Â
Navy then responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame on solo homers by Tyler Causey and Hunter Stokely for an 11-8 lead. Blue then nearly tied the game in the ninth. Clemente Inclan drove in two runs with a single to left center. The game ended with men on first and second when Alex Ritzer hit a sharp grounder to first to end the game.
Patrick Alvarez was 2-5 with two RBI for Navy. Colby Wilkerson was the only other Navy player with multiple base hits, going 2-4 with three RBI.Â
Danny Serretti and Alberto Osuna led the Blue offense. Serretti was 3-5 with one RBI and three runs scored while Osuna was 3-4 with with two RBI and two runs scored. Serretti added a triple to his homer. Clemente Inclan was 2-5 with three RBI.
Brandon Schaeffer, Connor Ollio, Kyle Mott, Shawn Rapp and Gage Gillian threw for Navy. Shaddon Peavyhouse, Caleb Cozart, Nik Pry and Davis Palermo saw action on the mound for Blue. Rapp and Cozart were the only two pitchers who gave up no runs. Rapp threw 1.1 scoreless innings while Cozart threw 2.2 scoreless innings.
Game two of the Fall World Series will be played on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
