Carolina Travels to Alabama’s Crimson Classic

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina (4-1) continues its 2021 campaign at Alabama's Crimson Classic Friday through Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Tar Heels will face Troy, Memphis and host No. 4 Alabama throughout the tournament weekend.

UNC's doubleheaders on Friday vs. Troy (10-1) and Saturday vs. Alabama (9-0) begin at noon ET. Sunday's game vs. Memphis (0-4) is slated for 11:30 a.m. ET. Fans can follow live stats for each game at rolltide.com. Saturday's doubleheader will be streamed live on SECN+.

Carolina opened its 2021 season with a 4-1 weekend against Boston College and Syracuse at home. Slugging .478, the Tar Heels scored four home runs while limited their opponents to a .185 average.

Brittany Pickett Named ACC Pitcher of the Week
Going 3-0 on the weekend and contributing to each win, Brittany Pickett anchored the Tar Heels in the circle with 30 strikeouts in four appearances. Pickett wrapped up the weekend with back-to-back double-digit strikeout games. The Indian Trail, N.C. native tossed 12 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout vs. Syracuse before striking out 10 in the weekend finale. Pickett gave up a mere two earned runs in 21.0 innings for a 0.67 ERA.

Rain, Rain Go Away
Two minutes away from the first pitch on Feb. 12 vs. UNCG, the tarp was pulled at South Carolina's Carolina Classic. A weather delay turned into canceling the opening tournament as the Tar Heels returned home. UNC has had five games canceled due to weather this season.
