No. 14 Baseball Drops 8-4 Decision at Liberty

Tar Heel pitchers struggled with finding the strike zone and issued ten walks and a hit-by-pitch.
Carolina out-hit Liberty 10-7 but could not find a way to manufacture enough runs under the lights in Liberty Baseball Stadium.
Justice Thompson saved a three-run home run in the first inning when he soared over the centerfield wall to make the web gem. Instead, the Flames were limited to just one run with a sacrifice fly.

The Flames plated three runs in the second to take a four-run lead.
Carolina answered with a sacrifice fly off of the bat of Angel Zarate which plated Hunter Stokely and cut the lead to 4-1. Two at-bats earlier, Stokely doubled in his first-career plate appearance.
The Tar Heels added two more in the fourth with a solo home run from Danny Serretti and an RBI double off of the bat of Tyler Causey.
Liberty loaded the bases in the fifth inning with one out but plated just one run after a catcher's interference call.
Nik Pry worked out of the jam in the fifth inning with a chopper back to the mound that he threw to Frick at the plate who turned the double play to Causey at first.
The Tar Heels struck in the again in the eighth inning with a pinch-hit RBI single from Jake Holtzapple. After Frick smashed a ground-rule double, Holtzapple hit a single up the middle to cut the lead to two.
Liberty answered with a 2RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 8-4.
Tanner Quick made his Carolina debut and suffered the decision. Carolina went on to use nine additional pitchers.
Frick led UNC at the plate with a two-hit performance that included a double.
Carolina shifts its focus to its weekend ACC series at Boston College March 19-21.
