Top Storylines
• North Carolina enters the weekend having completed a three-game sweep of Clemson at home before falling to Liberty 8-4 on Tuesday in Lynchburg.
• Outside of a five-game span at Virginia Tech and twice against Liberty, the Tar Heels bullpen has been impressive. The staff has given up one combined earned run in 31 IP.
• Tar Heel's pitchers rank 11th in the country in hits allowed per nine innings (6.34). The figure also leads the ACC. The staff also paces the league in WHIP (1.17).
• After not hitting a home run in his first 83 career at-bats, Clemente Inclan homered in four-straight games beginning against Liberty and spanning through the Clemson series (March 9-14). His performances earned him ACC Player of the Week on Monday (March 15).Â
• Carolina leads the ACC with 21 home runs through 15 games. Caleb Roberts paces the Tar Heels with five while Justice Thompson checks in behind him with four.
• In addition to his 35-game on-base streak, Angel Zarate has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.
• Redshirt sophomore Austin Love was named ACC Pitcher of the Week after his season debut against James Madison on Feb. 19. He currently ranks second in the ACC in hits allowed per nine innings (4.67).
• Transfer Justice Thompson has been remarkable for UNC thus far. In addition to starting every game in center field, he ranks fifth in the ACC in hits (23).
• Scott Forbes took the reigns from Mike Fox on Aug. 7, 2020, who wrapped up a legendary 22-year career at Carolina. He becomes just the fifth head coach of the Tar Heel baseball program since 1931.
• After hitting .061 with one double through the first nine games, Danny Serretti is batting .348 in the last six games with 2 2B, a triple and 2 HR's.
Scouting the Eagles
• Boston College enters the weekend after beating Holy Cross 18-12 on Wednesday.
• The Eagles lost three games at Louisville last weekend after taking two of three at No. 25 Auburn the weekend prior.
• Boston College began the 2021 season with a series sweep of Charleston Southern.
• Sal Frelick leads the Eagles with a .400 average at the plate. Luke Gold paces Boston College with 22 RBI.
