Women's Tennis Blanks Notre Dame, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL - In a match that began under bright-blue skies and finished on the indoor courts of Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, the No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
North Carolina extends its winning run to 37 dual matches in a row, and improves to 19-0 overall this season and remains atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with a 9-0 mark.
Notre Dame falls to 9-10 on the year and 2-7 in the league.
Facing a pair of doubles teams ranked among the top-12 tandems in the nation, Carolina got out to early leads on all three courts and took the opening point with relative ease.
No. 39 Reilly Tran and Alle Sanford first posted on court two with a win over No. 11 Ally Bojczuk and Julia Lilien, and Alexa Graham and Anika Yarlagadda secured the point from court three. Court one's Elizabeth Scotty and Cameron Morra picked up a solid victory as well over No. 12 Cameron Corse and Page Freeman.
Carolina led on all six singles courts when the rain started falling. The decision was made at 1:40 p.m. to move the match indoors.
No. 21 Makenna Jones picked up career win No. 110 with a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Bojczuk on court three.
No. 51 Fiona Crawley, No. 98 Anika Yarlagadda and No. 114 Reilly Tran all remained unbeaten in singles play this spring with straight-set victories to make it 5-0 Tar Heels.
No. 37 Alexa Graham earned her 135th career win from court one, and No. 28 Cameron Morra made it a shutout with a marathon win on court two in three sets over No. 74 Page Freeman.
UNC remains home next week to host Wake Forest on Thursday at 3 p.m. and NC State on Saturday at 3 p.m. The match with the Wolfpack will also serve as our Senior Day. A brief ceremony will be held for Sara Daavettila, Graham, Anna Harmon and Jones.
