CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's tennis team will finish up its 2021 regular season this weekend with a pair of home matches at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
On Friday, the Tar Heels will host Miami at 3 p.m. On Saturday, UNC will host Florida State at 2 p.m. Live scoring for both matches will be available.
On Saturday, Carolina will honor four Tar Heels for Senior Day: William Blumberg, Josh Peck, Simon Soendergaard and Ladd Harrison, who was an original member of this senior class before graduating in 2020. This group of Tar Heels has reached the NCAA Tournament semifinals, earned several No. 1 rankings in the national polls and won the 2021 ITA Indoor National Championships.
UNC is 15-2 this season, including 7-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels are ranked third in the nation in this week's Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. Playing without Peck in and Rinky Hijikata in recent weeks due to injury, UNC has split its last four matches. Carolina is tied with NC State for third in the ACC standings behind Virginia (10-0) and Wake Forest (10-1).
Miami is ranked No. 43 in this week's poll, and FSU is unranked.
Several Tar Heels dot this week's singles and doubles rankings. In singles, five Carolina players are ranked: No. 38 Blumberg, No. 39 Hijikata, No. 66 Brian Cernoch, No. 77 Benjamin Sigouin and No. 87 Soendergaard. In doubles, Blumberg and Cernoch are ranked third nationally.
Following this weekend's action, the Tar Heels will head to Rome, Ga., for next weekend's ACC Championships which will begin on Friday April 23.
