Tar Heels Edge Carolina In 2021 Spring Football Game

CHAPEL HILL - Carolina hosted its spring football game on a soggy Saturday afternoon on Chris Smith Field at Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels team edged out the Carolina team by a 14-12 margin.
Game Notes
● Josh Henderson put the first points on the board with a 6-yard touchdown run on the fourth series. Henderson rushed six times for 33 yards.
● Sam Howell connected on a deep ball to Josh Downs for 48 yards on the fifth series. Howell scored on the very next play with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Antoine Green.
● Emery Simmons rose above a crowd of defenders to catch a 44-yard pass from Sam Howell on the seventh series.
● Quarterback Jefferson Boaz scored on a 38 yard rushing touchdown on the 11th series to make it 14-12 in favor of team Tar Heels.
● Howell led four passers with 118 yards and one touchdown.
● Six different running backs carried the ball. Caleb Hood added 33 yards, while DJ Jones and Henderson each scored rushing touchdowns.
● Eugene Asante had two solo sacks. The defenses combined for five sacks, 12 TFLs and four pass breakups.
● Chris Holiday had the game's only interception, picking off Boaz on the final play of the game.
