Women's Lacrosse Grabs Top Seed In ACC Tournament

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina has earned the top seed in the upcoming ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship, which the unbeaten Tar Heels will host from April 28-May 2 at Dorrance Field. UNC is the four-time reigning champion, winning the title each year from 2016-19 (the 2020 championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The quarterfinals begin Wednesday, April 28, with four matchups. North Carolina (15-0, 9-0 ACC) opens the tournament at noon against No. 8 seed Louisville (5-10, 1-9). No. 4 seed Notre Dame (8-5, 5-5) and No. 5 seed Duke (9-6, 4-6) follow at approximately 2:30 p.m.
No. 2 seed Syracuse (12-2, 8-2) and No. 7 seed Virginia Tech (5-10, 1-8) are set to face off at 5 p.m., while No. 3 seed Boston College (12-2, 8-2) takes on No. 6 seed Virginia (8-7, 3-7) in the nightcap slated for 7:30 p.m.
The UNC-Louisville winner plays the Notre Dame-Duke winner at noon Friday, April 30, in the semifinals, while the Syracuse-Virginia Tech and Boston College-Virginia winners are scheduled to square off at 2:30 p.m.
The championship game will be played Sunday, May 2, at noon.
All seven games of the tournament will be televised on ACC Network and also will be available on ACC Network Extra.Â
Seven ACC women's lacrosse teams are ranked this week in the IWLCA poll, including four of the top five: North Carolina (1), Syracuse (3), Notre Dame (4), Boston College (5), Virginia (7), Duke (8) and Louisville (18). ACC teams also hold the top three spots and six of the top 15 in the NCAA RPI: North Carolina (1), Syracuse (2), Boston College (3), Notre Dame (5), Virginia (12) and Duke (14).
All-Session and Individual Session tickets for the ACC Championship are available through the UNC Ticket Office and can be purchased on the UNC website at www.goheels.com/tickets or by calling the ticket office at 1-800-722-4335. All Session tickets are good for all seven games of the tournament.Â
Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each game or after the conclusion of the preceding game. Face masks are required and social distancing will be enforced.Â
All Session passes are $20 for adults and $10 for Youth (age 7-17), Seniors (age 55+). Individual session tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for Youth (age 7-17) and Seniors (age 55+). Admission is free for children 6 and under.
All tickets, regardless of session, will be Reserved Seats in order to ensure social distancing.
