Softball Continues Homestand Against Virginia

CHAPEL HILL – Continuing its homestand in Chapel Hill, North Carolina welcomes Virginia to Anderson Stadium for a four-game series Friday through Sunday.

Friday's doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m. with game two beginning approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Saturday's first pitch is at 3 p.m. with the series concluding Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Tar Heels enter the weekend 10-13 overall, 6-7 in ACC play while Charlotte comes to Chapel Hill with a 11-19 record, 7-14 in league play.

Although the Tar Heels threatened with runners in scoring position in the seventh, North Carolina fell to Charlotte 11-4 in Chapel Hill on Tuesday evening in UNC's first midweek game of the season. Charlotte jumped to an early six-run lead by the second inning. The Tar Heels managed to bring it within two thanks to a two-run home run by Brittany Pickett and heads up base-running by Skyler Brooks and Campbell Hutcherson that caused the 49ers' infield to scramble. However, Charlotte's momentum continued with five unanswered runs to earn the midweek win.
