Fountain Repeats ACC Golfer of the Month Award

First Back-to-Back Winner in Eight Years
Carolina freshman Peter Fountain is the ACC Men's Golfer of the Month for April. The Raleigh native won the individual title at the 2021 ACC Championship in Milton, Ga., on April 25. Fountain shot 71-63-66 for a 10-under-par total of 200 to win medalist honors by a stroke.
His 63 in the second round (which included a 28 on the back nine) and 200 total for 54 holes both tied ACC Tournament records. It was his second win in three tournaments as he also won the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in late March.
Fountain is the first player to win ACC Men's Golfer of the Month honors in consecutive months (he was co-recipient in March) since Albin Choi of NC State in 2013.
The fifth-ranked player in the country (Goflweek) leads UNC and is second in the league in stroke average at 69.33 strokes per round.
Carolina finds out where it will compete in the NCAA regionals when the field is announced tomorrow (Wednesday, May 5) at 2 p.m. The bids will be announced on the Golf Channel.
