Pickett Leads Tar Heels to Victory on Senior Night

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Led by a complete game shutout by pitcher Brittany Pickett, the North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the Louisville Cardinals 5-0 on Senior Night at Anderson Stadium.
Carolina, who committed no errors throughout the duration of the game, took the lead in the second inning and never looked back, scoring one each in both the fourth and fifth innings to complete the shutout of the Cards.
Taylor Greene opened the game's scoring with a home run, and Brittany Pickett finished the game with another home run to bookend the scoring and to help lead the team with two hits. Bri Stubbs joined her to lead the Heels with two hits, adding to the overall score.
Her first complete game pitched since the Clemson series, Brittany Pickett shined in the circle, with no walks drawn and four 1-2-3 innings.
The Tar Heels (13-24, 9-18 ACC) return to Anderson Stadium on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for a doubleheader against the Louisville Cardinals (20-26-1, 14-20-1 ACC) .

» After a celebration for the senior class of 2021, senior Brittany Pickett returned to start in the circle for the Tar Heels. She recorded her first 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second.
» In the bottom of the second, Taylor Greene hit her fourth home run of the season to open scoring for the Tar Heels. The Heels continued to score off a Bri Stubbs single that scored Aneshia Jordan and Carsyn Snead to extend the lead to 3-0.
» Brittany Pickett recorded another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the third.
» The top of the fourth saw Louisville finding a rhythm to reach bases, but the Tar Heel defense kept the Cardinals from capitalizing, including a catcher to short stop play by Taylor Greene to Skyler Brooks to catch a Card stealing.
» Carolina continued the scoring trend in the bottom of the fourth, with a Campbell Hutcherson single that scored Bri Stubbs for the 4-0 lead.
» Brittany Pickett recorded her third 1-2-3 inning of the night in the top of the sixth, then launches a home run over the right field fence in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead to 6-0.
» The final 1-2-3 inning from Brittany Pickett of the evening to complete the shutout came in the top of the seventh, securing the Tar Heel victory.
