Greaser One of Six to Earn Multiple ACC Honors
University of North Carolina men's golfers Ryan Gerard and Austin Greaser led the Tar Heels to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championship and were selected to the Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, the league announced today.
Gerard, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., majors in economics and geography. Greaser, a sophomore from Vandalia, Ohio, majors in statistics and analysis.
Greaser is one of six men's golfers who earned Academic All-ACC honors after also earning a spot on the All-ACC team. He tied for fifth at the ACC Championship and recorded the eighth-best single-season stroke average in UNC history (71.32).
Gerard, who is returning for a fifth season per the NCAA's Covid-19 relief rules, is third all-time at Carolina in stroke average (72.04).
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the Academic All-ACC team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the Academic All-ACC team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
