Dekanoidze Tabbed EAGL Co-Gymnast Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the second time this season, freshman Lali Dekanoidze has been named the East Atlantic Gymnast League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.
In Carolina's quad-meet with Missouri, George Washington and Brown on Jan. 22, Dekanoidze set a new career-best in the all around with a 39.450, the highest all-around score of any EAGL gymnast this season.
She matched her career-bests on beam (9.90) and bars (9.875) and set a new career-best on floor (9.875). Dekanoidze is currently tied as the top all-arounder in the EAGL, averaging 39.175 through the first three meets of the season.
Despite finishing behind Missouri in the quad meet, Dekanoidze helped Carolina post the best team score (196.475) in the EAGL this season and highest for UNC since the 2018 season.
Carolina competes at home again this Friday, Jan. 28, hosting Pittsburgh and Towson for a 6:45 p.m. tri-meet. Admission to Carmichael Arena is free.
