Carolina Gymnastics Hosts Towson and Pitt on Friday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 25 Carolina gymnastics team finishes off their January slate this Friday at home, hosting Towson and Pitt for a EAGL conference tri-meet in Carmichael Arena. Admission is free.

The Tar Heels are competing for the second time in less than a week. On Jan. 22, Carolina posted a 196.475, its best team score since March 17, 2018, coming in second to No. 8 Missouri (196.850), but capturing victories over George Washington (194.825) and Brown (191.025).
Junior Elizabeth Culton, who won the individual uneven bars title for the second meet in a row, led Carolina with its highest scores on bars (9.90), floor (9.875) and beam (9.925).
Freshman Lali Dekanoidze placed second in the all-around, setting a new career-best of 39.450. She was named EAGL Co-Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 26, the second weekly honor of her career.
Heels for a Cause
Friday's meet is Carolina's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion meet. There will be various booths on the concourse that represent these ideals as well as a video produced by the team that expresses what they "fight for" when competing, causes that include Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+ rights and sexual assault victims.
