Gymnastics Tops Pitt And Towson

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 25 Carolina gymnastics team earned its first first-place victory of the 2022 season on Friday night, posting a team score of 196.000, defeating EAGL conference opponents Towson (195.975) and Pitt (194.300).
Tonight's Meet:
Freshman Lali Dekanoidze took home her second all-around title of the season, matching her career-best of 39.450.
Junior all-American Elizabeth Culton took a share of the uneven bars title (9.850), while freshman Julia Knower earned the floor title (9.90) and a share on beam (9.875).
The Tar Heels got the meet started on vault, where Dekanoidze matched her career-best of 9.90.
On bars, Culton had a team-best 9.850, while on beam Knower bounced back after a fall last meet with a 9.875. Floor was Carolina's best rotation of the night, with the team posting a combined score of 49.225.
Knower's 9.90 in the anchor spot of the rotation, which sealed the victory for the Tar Heels, is the highest score of any Carolina gymnast on the event this season.
