Gymnastics Travels to Tuscaloosa For Friday Tri-Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -  The No. 25 Carolina gymnastics team hits the road for the second time this season, heading to Tuscaloosa to face two top-20 opponents, No. 9 Alabama and No. 17 Western Michigan.  The meet will air Friday at 8:30 ET on the SEC Network live from Coleman Coliseum.Â

The Tar Heels earned their first first-place victory of the 2022 season on Jan. 29, posting a team score of 196.000 and defeating EAGL conference opponents Towson (195.975) and Pitt (194.300).

Freshman Lali Dekanoidze took home her second all-around title of the season in the meet, matching her career-best of 39.450.

Junior all-American Elizabeth Culton took a share of the uneven bars title (9.850), while freshman Julia Knower earned the floor title (9.90) and a share on beam (9.875).
