Shippee Earns ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a record-setting performance on Friday, Jill Shippee has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week for women's field events.
The ACC announced the honors on Tuesday. Also recognized were FSU's Trey Cunningham (men's track) and Lauren Ryan (women's track), and NC State's Von Douglas (men's field).
Competing in the weight throw at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind., Shippee broke a school record that had stood since 2005 with a throw of 21.75 meters, a personal best. She passed UNC great Laura Gerraughty, a four-time NCAA Champion in the shot put and a 2004 Olympian who held the record for 17 years with a throw of 70'3.75" (21.43m).
Shippee's throw is the 10th-best in NCAA competition this season. She also holds the program record in the hammer throw.
