Gymnastics Season Comes to Close at NCAA Regionals

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina gymnastics team's season came to an end on Thursday night in the second round of the NCAA Regionals in Reynolds Colleisum. The Tar Heels placed fourth in the second session of the day with a team score of 195.150. UCLA (197.800) finished with the meet victory, followed by Michigan (197.400) and Maryland (196.025).
In head coach Danna Durante's first season at the helm of the team, Carolina made it into the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2017.
Despite having to count a fall on beam, Hannah Nam put together a career performance on the event in the first rotation, scoring a team-best 9.90.
Carolina had a strong showing on vault, not having to count a score lower than 9.80, for a team score of 49.075. The rotation was highlighted by a 9.85 from freshman Julia Knower.
On floor, the Tar Heels posted a team score of 49.050, with a 9.90 from Elizabeth Culton leading Carolina, her third 9.90 of the season.
The Tar Heels finished the meet on bars with a 48.700 team score. Isabelle Schaefer was Carolina's top performer, with a 9.875.
