Shippee Wins Hammer To Lead UNC At South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jill Shippee won the women's hammer title at the UofSC Open on Saturday, leading the Tar Heels to a successful day of competition at South Carolina's Sheila and Morris Cregger Track.
Shippee's throw of 67.96 (222-11) comfortably bested the field of 27.
The Tar Heels picked up a silver in the men's 400 meters, with Isaiah Palmer second in a season-best 46:56. Jared Williams was eighth in 48.13, also a season best.
In the women's 100 meters, Kayla Hunt and Lauryn Hall both earned PRs. Hunt was seventh in the field in 11.52 and Hall was 10th in 11:58.
Hall also had a lifetime best in the 200 meters, placing seventh overall in 23.47, which ranks ninth in program history.
