Shippee, Williamson Wins Highlight Day One Of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Two event wins highlighted the first day of the Penn Relays for the North Carolina track and field teams on Friday.

Jill Shippee won the hammer and set a new ACC record in the process with a distance of 69.76M (228-10), becoming the first Tar Heel to win the event at the Penn Relays.

Marshall Williamson also made history, becoming the first Tar Heel to win the men's steeplechase at the Penn Relays, posting the fifth-best time in school history (8:47:53).

Craig Saddler II took third in the 400-meter hurdles posting another sub-51 second performance with a time of 50.95.

Sasha Neglia had a season-best performance in the women's steeplechase (10:11.06), while Alex Morris set a new personal record in the 5000m, placing 15^th with a time of 16:37.78.
